چکیده

Costly general decision procedures can be sped up by incorporating eecient decision procedures for restricted classes of constraints. We show how to make use of these specialized decision procedures by constructing a network of cooperating decision procedures. Of course, in order to gain eeciency the expensive general decision procedures should not be called as far as possible. But they should always agree with the answers produced by the specialized decision procedures. Another problem is that each specialized decision procedure can handle only a certain class of constraints and hence the decision made by any one specialized decision procedure is based on a subset of all the constraints actually there. Nevertheless this local decision making can be used in short cutting the decision making process. This is accomplished by deening (i) a network topology, and (ii) a constraint distribution scheme, such that there is guaranteed to be consensus amongst the decision procedures. In this way when a specialized decision procedure decides local consistency (or inconsistency) then indeed we have global consistency (or inconsistency).

Subsumption and Recognition of Heterogeneous Constraint

Terminological knowledge representation (tkr) systems such as kl-one are widely used in AI to construct concept taxonomies based on subsumption inferences. However , current tkr systems are unable to represent temporal patterns or recognize instances of such patterns from ongoing observations. Motivated by applications such as service personnel dispatching and plan recognition for interactive u...

Exploiting Partial Information in Taxonomy Construction

One of the core services provided by description logic (DL) reasoners is classification: determining the subsumption quasi-ordering over the concept names occurring in a knowledge base (KB) and caching this information in the form of a directed acyclic graph known as the concept hierarchy or taxonomy. For less expressive DLs, such as members of the EL family, it may be possible to derive all th...

Domain taxonomy learning from text: The subsumption method versus hierarchical clustering

This paper proposes a framework to automatically construct taxonomies from a corpus of text documents. This framework first extracts terms from documents using a part-of-speech parser. These terms are then filtered using domain pertinence, domain consensus, lexical cohesion, and structural relevance. The remaining terms represent concepts in the taxonomy. These concepts are arranged in a hierar...

A Novel Comprehensive Taxonomy of Intelligent-Based Routing Protocols in Wireless Sensor Networks

Routing in ad-hoc networks, specifically intelligent-based ones, is a highly interested research topic in recent years. Most of them are simulation-based study. Large percentages have not even mentioned some of the fundamental parameters. This strictly reduces their validity and reliability. On the other hand, there is not a comprehensive framework to classify routing algorithms in wireless sen...

A Multi Objective Fibonacci Search Based Algorithm for Resource Allocation in PERT Networks

The problem we investigate deals with the optimal assignment of resources to the activities of a stochastic project network. We seek to minimize the expected cost of the project include sum of resource utilization costs and lateness costs. We assume that the work content required by the activities follows an exponential distribution. The decision variables of the model are the allocated resourc...
